Programs
- D.A.R.E.: The Fayette County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with the Miami Trace Local School District initiated the D.A.R.E. program in the 1994-1995 school year. The cooperative effort also educates children at a young age to make good choices. The program also allows positive interaction between the youth and law enforcement. The DARE Program is funded through fundraisers and donations from the Community. For more information or to make a donation contact our office.
- Project Lifesaver: Project Lifesaver is a public safety program using mobile transmitters to help locate endangered missing persons with diagnosed medical conditions. We have several people trained to assist in case of an emergency. If you think you know someone who might benefit from this program or for more information contact our office. Examples of diagnosed medical conditions suitable include, but are not limited to Autism & Alzheimers.
- 24 hour Drug Disposal Box: In an effort to help reduce the opiate & other drug addiction problems, the Sheriff's Office has installed a drop box in the main office hallway lobby. It's available 24 hours a day for citizens to drop off expired, unwanted or no longer needed medication for safe disposal. Proper disposal is important not only for the community but takes away the possibility of the medication ending up in the hands of a child or someone who it isn't prescribed for. The Sheriff's Office also participates in the National Drug Take-Back Event twice a year offering two additional times citizens can "drive through" and drop off these medications for disposal.
